Farm Girls Went Adventuring!

The Farm Girls were ready for an adventure. March 31st we were off. I was giddy with excitement to share a couple of two new shops with them. First stop however was Bob's Red Mill, to nourish our bodies with some good food, and to stock up on our supplies. If you haven't gone there, you should. To me it reminds me a little of the Old Natures without the produce. I started shopping Natures back in the late sixties. I think that dates me. Anyone shop Natures when they were in SW Portland. I went to Portland Community College back then, it was my must place shop at.
When the Farm Girls get together we like to share our journal pages from our last gathering and any new finds we have discovered since we got together. Here Katy and I are sharing The Pioneer Woman Cooks latest cookbook. Roger has already gone through this and marked so many recipes. I think it is a hit at our house. Have you seen it yet?
Our next stop was to K.Marie's in Milwaukie. Go to her blog for hours and location. In the meantime, enjoy our adventure.
I so very much enjoyed sharing K.Marie with my fellow Farm Girls.

I think Erin was really liking all these French inspired treasures.

Kelli showed us where she will have some crafting classes, coming up in June, I believe.
This is Kelli's craft and supply table. Wow!
Some French tokens! Yes!!!

Kelli and I. I was so excited to bring my Farm Girls to see her special shop. Kelli is so cordial and so inviting for us to visit. Thank you Kelli!
Our next stop was Enchante', just a few doors down from K.Marie's. One cannot go home without some sweetness. Don't you agree?
Erin in ah over all the sweetness of this Enchanting store.
Farm Girl Robin checking out all the Easter treasures.
Katy is so excited with all this chocolate. Yum!
Although too much light in the background, I still wanted to share this photo. Erin and I sharing our excitement of our purchases.
Katy was pretty happy with all of her sweet treats from Enchante'. Can you tell by her smile?
You can see by the back of my car, we do know how to shop. Lots of great goodies came home for all these Farm Girls.
Our Farm Girls like to gift each other with special treats. Katy prepared the fix ins for us to have a perfect dinner to indulge in. I prepared mine the next day. Yummy.
Martha Steward Thumbprint coconut salted caramel nest.
A Spring basket of goodies.
A sweet baby chick!
Finishing off our day the girls went with me to pick up my packet for The Race For The Roses 5K I was participating in the next day. Thank you fellow Farm Girls. We know how to pack a lot of adventures in one day. Wouldn't you think so?

Farm Girls Come Together To Celebrate

"Where Women Cook" that was my gift to my Farm Girl Friends along with the hand made french rolling pin. When we gather we always share a meal. We like to share recipes as well, so my thinking was; what a great way for all of us to have the same cookbook. Have you seen this book? It is awesome. You might want to check it out.
Our meal was a vegetable quiche, with a vegetable salad to compliment it. I have so much fun bringing out all the different special dishes I have to entertain with. How about you?
The little snow globes were part of my gift to my Farm Girl friends. A perfect table favor.
Cherry almond scones were made by Farm Girl Erin. These were very yummy.
Apple Streusel muffins provided from Farm Girl Robin. Yummy! They were very moist.
We finished off our meal with these little tarts that Farm Girl Erin brought, along with some hot tea.
After our meal we shared our journal pages from our last gathering. I always love to see how each of us put our pages together. Oh how fun it has been to look back on our last three years of gathering through our journal pages. We also had chosen to exchange Christmas gifts, the joy we receive from each other is a memory in the making.
Farm Girl Erin gave us an assortment of treasures as you can see here.
Farm Girl Katy had just returned from a cruise to the Caribbean, so she wanted to share a little something from her journey, along with a biodegradable bucket. That will be fun to see how it degrades over time.
Farm Girl Robin made us these old quilt stars and tea dyed pipe cleaner candy canes, along with some yummy apple streusel muffins found on the Folk blog.
I saw an idea in a magazine to make heart shape bird seed feeders, so I decided that would be a great thing for us Farm Girls to do this time of the year.
A mixture of birdseed with dissolved gelatin; molds this mixture together.
We filled our cookie cutter molds. First filling them half full. then adding our jute string loop, then adding more birdseed mixture to fill the mold completely.
Part of our gathering we share our stories. We talk about what kinds of things do we want to do this next year. Do you have special activities planned?
Erin and Robin.
Robin and Katy filling their molds.
You can see here that you can not only use cookie cutters, jello molds work really well.
The finished product. They unmolded beautifully. What are you doing to feed the birds?

Farm Girls Summer Adventures

Farm Girls adventures to a Farmers Market was on our summer adventure list. This day we would go to The Beaverton Farmers Market, what fun! Of course we could only dream our vegetable gardens could be so bountiful, perhaps someday. We had a full day ahead of us, after the farmers market, we were off to Heirloom Roses and Fergusons Fragrant Gardens in St Paul, Oregon. We certainly love our exploring, I love sharing places with these girls to places, perhaps they have not been to. Do you like to go on adventures to explore the unknown? Farm Girl Katy with her Chard and Kale.
Farm Girls Erin and Robin checking out the bountiful selections of produce. Wow!
Robin finding some beets, um? I wonder what she will do with these?
Although a dark shadow photo, I still decided to post it, I am pretty smitten with this chard and Kale!
After checking out all that food, it was time to feed our bodies, picnic style. Katy would prove to have made the best choice in food here. HeHe! ( Inside joke)
Our next stop would be Heirloom Roses in St Paul, Oregon, Katy and Robin had never been there before. Heirloom Roses has some of the sturdiness stock of roses you could ever imagine.
Farm Girl Robin, making her list of her favorite roses.
Farm Girl Erin checking out all these beautiful starts of roses.
The very essence of the roses here at Heirloom Roses is incredible. Robin, Katy and myself.
Our next stop was Ferguson Fragrant Gardens in St Paul, Oregon, here Katy is checking out all these beautiful roses.
I am pretty excited about my new Eden rose. I am dreaming about a lot of bouquets to come!
My car was loaded with all our vegetables in the cooler and of course our roses. Homeward bound we go!
Once back at my home we had some Lavender Lemonade with ginger cookies. I made these Farm Girl wine glasses, using a candlestick holder from the dollar store, gluing it with epoxy 6000 to a pint canning jar. Um? Farm Girl or Redneck? I would like to think Farm Girl!
A toast to our gathering. Erin, Katy and Robin.
Part of our fun with getting together is to share recipes, Katy made us some homemade granola, yummy!
Robin decorated these little cans and filled them with nourishment for our body.
Handmade treasures from Erin.
My fellow Farm Girls went to check out the progress of my garden. It is so reassuring to compare stories on the status of what our gardens are doing. At this point I was hopeful.
The end of our day was an adventure through the woods of a newly made trail made by Roger and my grandson Chants. Thanks Roger and Chants!
